The site are decisive for the design of the new volumes. The idea of building two blocks is based on the scale of the detached houses to the south and the new blocks that are being built to the north of the site. The aim is to create a dialogue with the surroundings and to open up views and sunlight from one block to the other. House 1, benefits from the closer entrance. House 2, from being set back from the street.
The design of the outdoor area plays a key role in the implementation of the entrances, and must also be very uncluttered and attractive. We have thought of a covered element that not only serves to lead us to both houses entrances, but also to provide access to the bicycle rooms creating a covered space with a green character. The access for vehicles is differentiated from the access for pedestrians and bicycles, which increases the safety of users and makes access clearer. The space between the houses and the space separating them from the property boundaries is essentially intended as a meeting place for neighbours and a play area for children. The linear wooden structure with its climbing plants and the curved path on the southern edge of the property will serve as a link between the various play areas and outdoor recreational spaces. The entire communal and play area is punctuated with small islands that differ in their paving and geometry and are connected by paths. Sometimes the paving is made of wood shavings (under the swing), sometimes white gravel, sometimes sand. This space is intended to be a walkable landscape in which some wooden or stone elements can be used for sitting, lying down or playing. The boundary to the small private gardens of the three flats on the ground floor will be created with various types of shrubs and native, low-maintenance plants.
